After trying many routes to treat eczema, i have now found the most effective way to treat my eczema on my skin. After hearing many success stories from people who use certain creams, from special bath salts to natural bathe solutions, and by changing living conditions, they all were unsuccessful for me.
I have been living with eczema all my life and tried several different creams and lotions in the market. Aquaphor, Aveeno, Neutrogena, and even an expensive famous cream from France, and still no great success. However, the only creams that are a bit effective is the topical steroids hydro cortisone cream, i highly, and i mean it, i highly do not recommend topical steroids. I’ve used them most of my life growing up and your skin starts to depend on it to avoid breakouts. It thins out the lining of your skin and makes it all saggy. Another product that has helped me a little is a local store brand lotion, i apply it twice after a shower and it works for a little while, then the itch slowly starts to come on.
I have heard great success from people bathing with special bath salts from Aveeno or epson salt or some other natural ingredient solutions, but for me, I have had no luck at all. Once I’m out of the bath I start itching right away. I’ve tried probably about 20 different salts and none of them worked.
Another successful way I’ve heard of treating eczema are dehumidifiers or humidifiers. Living in a largely moist area attracts bacteria witch grows on your skin, but living in dry areas make your skin all dried, cracked and itchy. I tried the use of both electronic units and tried several trials between 40%-60% relative humidity and was unsuccessful.
Almost 30 years and i still hadn’t found a way or a great treatment for my eczema yet. My eczema was actually getting worse, i had it all over my legs, my arms, my neck, hands and even face. But after seeing my dermatologist, she has changed my life! It’s called the Narrowband UVB Photo-therapy treatment. After a few months of doing this, my eczema slowly started to disappear. I would go into the little machine for a few minutes 2-3 times a week. I’m not trying to advertise or promote this machine or anything. If you’ve tried every method of trying to treat your eczema with no success, i think you should give this a shot. I will talk more about this Photo-therapy treatment on my later posts because after being out of the machine for a month, my eczema slowly came back. I will update with more news about the treatment and more photos of my before and after the treatment.
